Jamie McCourt, a former US ambassador to France and Monaco, has added a Palm Beach landmark to her portfolio, paying $19.2 million for a restored house on North Lake Way, according to the Palm Beach Daily News. The purchase, made through her Sunflower Trust, was recorded June 3.
The sellers, Pace Gallery CEO Marc Glimcher and his wife, designer Fairfax Dorn, bought the house in 2021 for $14.3 million and invested in further updates, including a new air-conditioning system.
Known as the “Fore and Aft House” or simply “The Boat House,” the 1937 lakefront property stands out for its ship-like design—porthole windows, curved lines, and pipe railings evoke the streamlined glamour of a vintage ocean liner. The six-bedroom home sits on a third of an acre, with 65 feet of waterfront, a dock, and a rooftop deck overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway.
McCourt, a former CEO of the Los Angeles Dodgers and founder of Jamie Enterprises, served as ambassador during the Trump administration and stepped down in 2021.
Earlier renovations by developer Todd Michael Glaser and his wife Kim earned the property a 2019 Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach award for historically sensitive restoration. Updates included teak floors reminiscent of yacht decks, refinished original wood flooring, and extensive system upgrades—all while preserving signature elements like the stone-faced fireplace and glass-block windows. The house was listed for $24.95 million last year before its price was cut to $23.5 million.
Palm Beach has long been home to former ambassadors, with McCourt joining a roster that includes envoys to Hungary, Morocco, and the UK.
