Emanuela Tarizzo has been selected as the next director of Frieze Masters, the London fair founded in 2012 for art made before the 21st century. She begins in April and will lead the next edition of Frieze Masters, scheduled to take place between 15 to 19 October 2025 in Regent’s Park, alongside Frieze London.

Tarizzo has previously worked as an independent adviser and a director at Tomasso, a UK gallery with locations in London and Leeds that deals in Old Masters, European sculpture and ancient art. The gallery has exhibited at Frieze Masters numerous times.

“I am honoured to join Frieze Masters at such a pivotal time,” Tarizzo said in a statement. “From its inception, the fair has stood out for its innovative narrative—one that invites fresh perspectives on historical art and dialogue with contemporary audiences. Rooted in London, a city with a truly international outlook and a longstanding reputation as a centre for expertise, Frieze Masters continues to be a dynamic meeting point for collectors, curators and galleries. I look forward to building on that founding vision as we shape the fair’s distinctive identity.”

Tarizzo succeeds Nathan Clements-Gillespie, who announced his departure in January after leading the fair for four years. Her appointment comes at an uncertain time for the Frieze events and media company, which is being floated for sale by its owner, Endeavor. The sale is part of a deal with the investment firm Silver Lake, which is expected to take Endeavor private on 24 March.

In her role at Frieze Masters, Tarizzo will also be tasked with “deepening relationships with leading museums and collectors whose insight and ambition shape the field”, said Kristell Chadé, Frieze’s executive director of fairs, in a statement.
