The Center for Curatorial Studies (CCS) at Bard College in Upstate New York is adding a $10m expansion to its library and archives facility, with the addition to be named the Keith Haring Wing in honour of a $3m contribution from the late Pop artist’s foundation.
The expansion will more than double the facilities of CCS Bard’s library and archives, adding 12,000 sq. ft of space that will include a new classroom, a study room, an enlarged reading room and storage space for an additional 30,000 volumes—crucial, given recent gifts of books and materials from the dealer Gavin Brown, art historian Robert Storr and scholar Eddie Chambers.
Work on the new wing will begin this summer, with construction expected to wrap up in late 2025; it has been designed by HWKN Architecture—whose previous projects include the existing CCS Bard facilities and the artist Takashi Murakami’s production facility in Queens, New York—with executive architects C.T. Male Associates.

In addition to the $3m contribution from the Haring Foundation, the new wing is being supported by the Marieluise Hessel Foundation, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and the Martin and Rebecca Eisenberg Foundation.
