The third edition of the Atlanta Art Fair (October 1–4) will feature upwards of 67 galleries, convening at Pullman Yards, a 27-acre former rail works in the Kirkwood district. The fair is organized by AMP (Art Market Productions), which also organizes the Seattle Art Fair, Art on Paper, and San Francisco Art Market, and is under the leadership of director Kelly Freeman and artistic director Nato Thompson. The exhibitor list is, say the organizers, still in development.
“We’re thrilled to bring the third edition of Atlanta Art Fair to life, continuing our community-centered approach as we build our most ambitious edition yet,” Freeman told ARTnews. “It’s inspiring to see the fair’s continued growth over the past few years, and we’re excited to welcome a strong lineup of new exhibitors from across the globe, from Atlanta to Seoul, while also celebrating the returning galleries we’ve had the privilege of working with since launching the fair in 2024.”
First-time exhibitors will include Bill Hodges Gallery and Claire Oliver Gallery, both from New York; Art Melanated and SAB Gallery from Los Angeles; and Southerners including Lexington’s Institute 193 and Charlotte’s HELAC Fine Art.
The fair’s second edition, ARTnews’s Daniel Cassady wrote, saw a casual atmosphere, with plenty of students and locals sporting Falcons jerseys. New York advisor Lara Bjork said that “there has to be a connection between the North and the South,” adding that, “Some city has to do it. It’s not going to be Charlotte, it’s not going to be Charleston. It has to be Atlanta.”
Many hometown galleries will return, including Fay Gold Gallery, Jackson Fine Art, and Marcia Wood Gallery. The roster also includes international exhibitors like Borderlands Art from Uganda, Hera Kim Gallery from Seoul, and Melrose Gallery from Johannesburg.
In past years, the fair may have benefited by coinciding with Atlanta Art Week, founded by advisor Kendra Walker in 2022 to bring together the art community; the event has been postponed, said the organizers, due to “current market conditions and the level of infrastructure required” to deliver the expected experience. But the city’s cultural infrastructure remains, including institutions like Atlanta Contemporary, the High Museum of Art and the Michael C. Carlos Museum of Art at Emory University.
