Art Basel has announced the exhibitor list for its 2025 edition, which will feature 291 galleries from 42 countries. This represents a slight increase in size from the fair’s 2024 edition, which featured 285 galleries. Of this year’s participants, 18 are newcomers to Art Basel. The event is scheduled to take place at the Messe Basel from June 19th to 22nd, with VIP days on June 17th and 18th.

The 2025 edition of Art Basel introduces a new section titled Premiere, featuring a selection of 10 galleries that will present what the fair calls “bold, cutting-edge works” made within the last five years. Among the galleries participating in this sector are New York’s Broadway, Tokyo’s Kosaku Kanechika, and Jacky Strenz from Frankfurt, Germany.

Parcours, the fair’s sector for site-specific installations, will be curated by the director of the Swiss Institute, Stefanie Hessler, for the second year in a row. The section will center on the theme of “Second Nature,” which will “explore the increasingly blurred lines between life and lifelikeness,” according to the fair. Meanwhile, German artist Katharina Grosse will use a spray gun to transform the Messeplatz and adjacent structures into a colorful, immersive mural.

“With an unmatched lineup of galleries, the introduction of exciting new sectors like Premiere, the return of Parcours, and a stunning immersive installation by Katharina Grosse, Art Basel continues to be a powerful platform for discovery and a driving force for cultural exchange, innovation, and artistic expression,” said Maike Cruse, the fair’s director.

Among the 239 galleries in the fair’s main section, five galleries have advanced from other sections. These include the Chinese gallery Beijing Commune, London’s Emalin, Prague’s hunt kastner, Paris’s Galerie Le Mintaure, and Osaka’s The Third Gallery Aya. Meanwhile, two galleries in the sector are making their debut at the fair: the London-based gallery Arcadia Missa and François Ghebaly, which has locations in New York and Los Angeles.

The Feature section, which focuses on art historical projects, will feature 17 galleries, including six new exhibitors. Among the newcomers are Los Angeles’s Anat Ebgi, presenting works from Tina Girourard, and San Francisco stalwart Jessica Silverman, showing a solo booth of Judy Chicago’s works. Meanwhile, the 18 solo presentations featured in the Statements section will highlight emerging artists from diverse backgrounds. Here, up to two artists will be awarded the 26th annual Baloise Art Prize, which grants CHF 30,000 ($32,800) to each winner.
