The CIRCA Prize returns for its fourth year, offering artists a chance to win £40,000 ($51,070) by submitting a 2.5-minute video work based on the theme “<<Break Free>> Time’s Arrow Flies Forever Forward.” Renowned artists Ai Weiwei and Marina Abramović will be among the esteemed judges.

The jury also includes notable figures such as artists Michèle Lamy, Josef O’Connor, Kembra Pfahler, Slawn, curators Hans Ulrich Obrist and Sir Norman Rosenthal, as well as Pussy Riot co-founder Nadya Tolokonnikova. As well as the prize money, the winner will receive a trophy designed by Weiwei.

The judges will select 30 finalists, whose works will be displayed on Piccadilly Lights in Central London and other CIRCA platforms in Milan and Berlin throughout September. The public will also have a chance to choose their own favorite online, awarding an additional £10,000 ($12,771) to the artist who wins the public vote. The award ceremony will be held in Piccadilly Circus, London, during Frieze Week on October 8, 2024.
