Hauser & Wirth’s $575,000 sale of Avery Singer’s Poker Players (study) (2024) leads the reported sales at FOG Design+Art Fair 2025 in San Francisco. The 11th edition of the fair kicked off with a VIP preview on January 23rd and ran through this past weekend at the Fort Mason Center piers on San Francisco Bay.

This year’s fair invited 59 galleries from around the world to showcase an array of sculpture, painting, installation, and design objects. Participants hailed from major art centers across the United States, such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York, as well as international hot spots, such as Paris, Hong Kong, and Cape Town.

“The fair’s focused format draws a very engaged, curious type of collector and encourages a deeper quality of interaction,” said Trevyn McGowan, co-founder of the South African gallery Southern Guild. “We have had many thought-provoking conversations with collectors looking to add to their collections in very considered and intentional ways. Particularly interesting for us was how the fair sustains the high level of engagement right through to the last day,”

The bustling VIP preview hosted more than 2,000 guests and galleries reported a flurry of sales. In addition to the leading Singer painting, Hauser & Wirth also sold pieces from big names such as Firelei Báez and Rashid Johnson. Sales from blue-chip galleries were taking place throughout the fair. Lehmann Maupin made opening day sales of works by McArthur Binion and Todd Gray.

The fair also mounted the second edition of its impressive small gallery initiative, FOG Focus. This initiative featured a selection of local tastemakers, such as Jonathan Carver Moore and Municipal Bonds, alongside visiting galleries, including Charles Moffett from New York and Chris Sharp Gallery from Los Angeles.

Here, we round up a selection of notable sales reported by galleries at the FOG Design+Art Fair 2025.
