“Kong”: Richard Orlinski’s iconic sculpture

From his oeuvre, his ‘Kong’ sculpture is undoubtedly the most emblematic. Inspired by the eponymous King Kong character, this work presents a gorilla in a position of power, often illustrated mid-roar or striking. Orlinski has recreated this sculpture in a variety of shapes and sizes, each of which highlights his meticulous attention to detail.

Richard Orlinski’s ‘Kong’ symbolises brute strength and determination, while retaining a certain elegance thanks to its clean lines and polished surfaces. The sculpture has been exhibited in iconic locations around the world, including the ski slopes of Courchevel and the streets of Miami. Each ‘Kong’ installation seems to interact with its environment, offering a new interpretation of power and presence with each viewing and location.
