Perrotin has announced its new representation of Ali Banisadr, a Brooklyn-based Iranian artist celebrated for his intricate oil paintings. Banisadr’s first solo exhibition with Perrotin is set for November 2024 in Shanghai and the artist will debut his latest piece, The Mirror World (2024), with the gallery at this year’s Art Basel in Basel.

The representation announcement comes at a significant moment for the artist’s career. In 2025, Banisadr will be featured in a mid-career survey titled “Ali Banisadr: The Alchemist” at the Katonah Museum of Art in New York. This exhibition will display a comprehensive selection of his work, including paintings, drawings, and prints spanning from 2006 to the present.

“I have been following Ali Banisadr’s work for many years and I am so excited to have the opportunity finally to exhibit it,” said gallery founder Emmanuel Perrotin. “There is an energy and strength in his work that few painters are capable of. I am delighted with this collaboration.”

Alongside Perrotin, Banisadr will continue to be represented by Thaddaeus Ropac, Kasmin, and Victoria Miro.
