Albarrán Cabrera is the Barcelona-based collaboration between Anna Cabrera (b. 1969) and Angel Albarrán (b. 1969). They are fascinated by perception: how images can trigger memories and resonate with viewers in different ways. The following pages traverse lush, light-drenched forests and lakes, where sun dapples through branches and across water. Albarrán Cabrera’s visuals are dreamlike and soothing; viewers might even experience déjà vu – the sensation of having witnessed a scene before. The duo has a command of texture, attending to not only what’s in the frame, but also its materiality. They handcraft prints using techniques where every detail matters, stating: “the finishing, tones – even the border – can provide the viewer with valuable information.” This November, their work is at Les Douches la Galerie, Paris, and Michael Hoppen Gallery, London. Their eighth book, Windows to the Unexpected, will launch with RM at Paris Photo. albarrancabrera.com | @albarrancabrera
