Esteban Amaro (b. 1987) is a visual artist whose work explores humanity’s relationship with the environment. The artist blurs the line between photography, sculpture and installation to reinterpret familiar landscapes. Each image invites viewers to shift their perspective on the world and explore the unknown. The series In the Past Hides the Future sees mysterious objects appear in deserts and mountain ranges. The towering monoliths are made of seemingly natural materials like rocks and ice, yet Amaro turns them into something that feels supernatural. These astral structures look like relics from an ancient civilisation, or perhaps as though they were created by aliens. Amaro said: “These impossible sculptures emerge as a testimony of our deep connection with the cosmos, as part of the history and at the same time of the future, as if they were part of this planet or some distant place in the universe.”
