MK builds paintings that feel alive before they are fully understood. Born in Belgium to Spanish parents and now based in Switzerland, she has shaped an artistic language through instinct rather than formal instruction. Her path began at twenty-three, when painting became more than a new skill; it became a necessary form of expression. After years devoted to family life, she returned to the canvas with renewed focus, developing work that speaks through color, movement, and emotional charge. Her paintings hold a distinctive place between Figurative Expressionism and Impressionist sensitivity, where recognizable forms rise from energetic surfaces and feeling guides the eye.
Her biography gives her practice a layered cultural rhythm. The warmth of her Spanish heritage appears in radiant reds, golds, oranges, and violets, while her life in Switzerland brings an attentive calm to light, distance, and atmosphere. These influences do not appear as fixed references but as emotional conditions within the work. MK often paints trees, flowers, oceans, moons, human silhouettes, eyes, hands, and cosmic skies, allowing each motif to become a passage into memory, vulnerability, renewal, or wonder. Rather than copying nature, she transforms it into a charged visual experience.
Working mainly in oil, and sometimes combining oil with acrylic or mixed media on linen, MK creates dense, textured surfaces that invite close looking.
