Tokyo Gendai Names 63 Exhibitors for Upcoming 2026 Edition in September

Tokyo Gendai has named the 63 exhibitors that will participate in its upcoming fourth edition, which is scheduled to run September 11–13, with a VIP day on September 10, at the Pacifico Yokohama.

Among the galleries participating in the main Galleries section are Pace Gallery, Sadie Coles HQ, Ceysson & Bénétière, Mizuma Art Gallery, A Lighthouse called Kanata, and Taka Ishii Gallery. The Eda (“Branch”) section will feature two exhibitors: Ippodo Gallery and Mizoe Art Gallery.

Nearly half of the exhibitors will take part in the Hana (“Flower”) section, for early- to mid-career artists, including Tokyo-based galleries AWASE Gallery, CON_, Gallery Common, Harukaito by Island, Maki Gallery, and Misa Shin Gallery, alongside Lett Thomas of Auckland, New Zeland; La Bibi Gallery of Mexico City and Palma de Mallorca, Spain; and W-Galería of Buenos Aires and Pueblo Garzón, Uruguay.

The Tane (“Seed”) section for “presentations with a focus on digital media, including NFTs, animation, film, AR, VR and gaming” will return for a second time, with five exhibitors, including TAEX which will show a Marina Abramović avatar project.

The 2026 edition will also introduce a new section, called Miki (“Trunk”), which will focus on works on paper and photography. Participating dealers include Bangkok CityCity Gallery, Fabrik Projects, and Revolver Galeria.  

The exhibitor list is only slightly smaller than the 2025 edition, which had 66 galleries, or three more. The addition of two sectors, however, has resulted in a reconfiguration of the fair’s makeup. Instead of 29 exhibitors in the main galleries sector, the 2026 will only have 17. Several high-profile international outfits are not returning for 2025, including Almine Rech, Galerie Eva Presenhuber, Gallery Baton, and Galerie Eigen + Art.
