King Charles III has a humongous collection of prints and drawings known as the Royal Collection. It is one of the largest private holdings of art in the world and includes masterpieces such as Johannes Vermeer’s The Music Lesson (around 1660). The monarch is, however, about to unveil his own work of art in a special exhibition marking the 25th anniversary of the Royal Drawing School, a London-based non-profit organisation focusing on drawing and related art skills, which was set up by the King in 2000. His Majesty will contribute an original drawing to this special celebratory show (1-26 July), according to a press statement, joining illustrious company such as Tacita Dean, David Hockney and Tracey Emin. The work remains under wraps for now—but we somehow doubt it will be as intimate as Emin’s unmade bed.
